Stoneside Cottage: Paint & Floor

As I developed the design plan for the rental house my goal was to create a light yet warm calming space. Because it’s an investment property and other families will be living there I wanted something neutral that would work with most color schemes. Several of the rooms don’t get direct sunlight so I knew the paint color had to be on the lighter side. In the end I decided a light greige would be best for the home. I picked up a variety of colors at Sherwin Williams. The top contenders were Wordly Gray, Repose Gray and Agreeable Gray. In the end the winner was Agreeable Gray. Depending on the light it can read a warm gray or a taupe. It is light enough to not make the room feel dark. It doesn’t read pink or purple. It is the perfect greige!

The ceilings were painted white. The bedrooms, living room, dining room and hallway were painted Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray.

The kitchen and bathroom received the most dramatic renovations. They are also the homes smallest rooms so I wanted to keep the walls really light and simple so other elements of the room could shine. The kitchen and bathroom were painted Sherwin Williams Pure White.

We were so thankful for the original hardwood floors, but they needed a lot of TLC. We had a the floor refinished and it made all the difference. The dull, scratched, paint splattered floors were gone and the beautiful natural wood floors now shine! After sanding down the white oak floors. We chose not to use a stain, but they were sealed with several coat of water based satin polyurethane. The floors are the star of the show!
